LONGTIME Open Farm Sunday supporters the Dawes family, of Hilton of Aldie in Kinross-shire, had over 1000 visitors to this year's open day, to enjoy a sheep shearing display by Callum Shaw and his team Jack and Emily, who clipped 170 Romney ewes during the event with commentary from Harold Greer.
Another star attraction was Daisy the milking cow from RHET Perth and Kinross who was joined by local dairy farmers Norman and Calum Greer. The Dawes also had a Clydesdale horse, soil planting activities, a vintage tractor kindly provided by Andrew Turnbull, a John Deere tractor, cattle, chicks, ducklings, pygmy goats and alpacas. The event was very much a local collaboration, with the local Kinross Show committee volunteering their time to manage the gate.
