ABERDEENSHIRE FARMERS Andrew and Tricia Sleigh, of Newseat of Tolquhon Farm, near Tarves, hosted a visit from Defra Secretary of State Michael Gove last weekend. Representatives from NFU Scotland’s North-east region got round the farmhouse kitchen table to meet with Mr Gove to discuss Brexit, the withdrawal proposals, the impact of a ‘no deal’, Westminster’s Agriculture Bill, future agricultural policy for Scotland and future funding levels, including the forthcoming review on convergence funds. Union president Andrew McCornick and vice president Martin Kennedy welcomed the opportunity to meet with Mr Gove following a tumultuous week in politics that saw the vote on the draft EU Withdrawal agreement postponed and the Prime Minister successfully facing down a vote of no confidence
