AMERICAN dairy farmers Lloyd and Daphne Holterman will be visiting the UK in March for a series of meetings where they will outline their ‘five non-negotiables of managing the modern dairy cow’.

The Holtermans, who run Rosy Lane Holsteins in Wisconsin, will begin their tour in Scotland, with dates in Stirling (March 18), Ayr (March 18) and Dumfries (March 19) before travelling south to complete ten further appearances across England and Wales.

AHDB knowledge exchange manager Chris Stockwell said: “We’re delighted to welcome Lloyd and Daphne to Scotland and I’d encourage as many dairy farmers, especially all year round calvers, to take up the opportunity to hear about their system and their ethos which has made them so successful.

“They believe the difference between a good or outstanding dairy producers often boils down to big picture thinking with small detail focus.”

At the meetings Lloyd and Daphne will share their passion, experience and in-depth knowledge on what they perceive as the essentials for creating a successful dairy business. They focus on people, disease control and animal health management, genetic excellence, measuring, monitoring and managing, and business acumen and awareness.

The meetings are part of AHDB’s optimal dairy systems programme, which is helping dairy farmers lower costs and increase efficiency by focusing on a block calving or an all year round calving system.

Farmers who want to attend one of the Scottish dates should contact the AHDB KE Events Hub on 01904 771216 or ke.events@ahdb.org.uk.
