Scotland’s Rural College recently hosted a successful careers event at its Ayr campus.

The event attracted 620 students attending from SRUC’s six regional campuses, alongside pupils from local high schools.

More than 50 exhibitors and organisations travelled from across the UK to take part – offering information, advice and the opportunity for some to secure a placement or paid employment.

The exhibitors ranged from the Army, Police Scotland, and Landscape Institute, through to the SSPCA, Gleneagles Hotel, British Horse Society, National Trust for Scotland and Scottish Woodlands.

In addition to the exhibitors, there was also a wide range of workshops on offer from Hip-Hop dancing to Pilates, promoting mental well-being which is crucial to maintaining good health.

Learning engagement manager Alison Boyle said: “It’s all about inspiring futures. That’s the purpose of our cross-campus careers events. This event at Ayr had a real buzz, showcasing the exciting breadth of employment opportunities available across our demographic area and beyond for our students.”

The exhibitors’ feedback confirmed that the companies attending 'valued the opportunity' to meet with the workforce of the future.
