AS INTEREST in its breed continues to rise, the Easy Care Sheep Society has created a new role for a press and publicity officer.

Georgina Gater-Moore has been appointed to the position, and comes to the society in her final year of a BSc (Hons) in Agriculture at Harper Adams University, with experience in agricultural PR and communications – and a small flock of her own sheep.

Society secretary Louise Hobson said: “The society feels that the Easy Care breed is the sheep for the future of farming. With her enthusiasm and ability to negotiate social media, we feel that Georgie is exactly the right person for this important role helping us publicise the Easy Care message.”

Society treasurer Richard Cook added: “We are very pleased to have Georgie on board, and look forward to seeing the benefits that the Easy Care breed can bring to a farm business – such as reduced costs and labour efficiency – shared far and wide.

“Despite uncertain times in the sheep sector, the society is filled with optimism and continues to invest in the future, with this new role created to help promote the breed and the sustainability an Easy Care system can offer farmers.”

If you are interested in knowing more about the Easy Care breed, its Annual Open Day is scheduled for June 29 – details can be found on the society website, www.easycaresheep.com or contact publicity@easycaresheep.com
