THE fate of Campbelltown Creamery still isn't clear, but it's looking positive – that was the message in the wake of a meeting of producers and other involved parties on the Kintyre peninsula last week.
Producers are trying to find a way to save the dairy set up, described as an invaluable Kintyre amenity, following the current owners First Milk's decision to close the business.
NFU Scotland milk committee chairman, John Smith of Drumalea, Campbeltown, had nothing but a positive outlook on the back of the meeting.
He explained: "As a group we're trying to explore every way and every possibility of making the best of the situation. We are working alongside the Scottish Government and First Milk to try and get to the best resolution that works for all involved.
"At the end of the day we need to make sure that iconic brand that we produce products for is given the best chance to move forward and that is what we are making moves towards achieving."
