East Fife JAC has won the SAYFC's East Region Rally – 30 years after it last won it.

Held last weekend at Balgay Farm, Inchture, Perth – hosted by the Graham family and Iain Wilkinson – the weekend was packed with competitions for the 13 teams taking part.

Pipped at the post in joint second place were Bathgate JAC and Forfar JAC, while both Kinross JAC and West Fife, were joint next in line.

The day kicked off with the junior and senior sections of a produce show. The seniors made treacle pancakes, guacamole, lemon curd, panna cotta, fruit punch, macarons and a floral ladies' corsage; while the juniors competed with cheese scones, coleslaw, raspberry jam, lemon posset, fruit smoothie, unfilled meringues and a floral arrangement.

Stockjudging and valuation followed and the competitors had five classes of cattle and sheep to judge and more than 20 agricultural items to value.

this was followed by further skills tests, including welding, grading lambs, quad and trailer driving, digger handing, floral art arranging, identification and more.

The final section of the day was the usual competitive favourite, the sports, where a wheelbarrow race, 100m sprint, 100m relay race and an obstacle course set up by Angus and Tayside District and Strathmore JAC were up for points.

The official judges and valuers were Andrew McNee, Thomas Miller, Graham Burke, Norah Meikle, Anne Steel and Flor Dargie.
