AS THE major sheep sale season gets into full swing, the National Sheep Association and British Wool are looking forward to meeting sheep farmers at a number of auction markets over the coming months.

Taking part in the roadshow, which will visit marts across the length and breadth of the UK, NSA activities and campaigns officer Chris Adamson said: "We are looking forward to meeting many sheep farmers in the coming months and helping them understand how vital NSA's work is and that, given current uncertainties, there is no more vital time to join our or organisation.

“As well as providing a valuable trading outlet for farmers’, auction markets are also an important part of the social fabric of farming communities and a natural meeting point for farmers. NSA is committed to working with auction markets wherever possible and support the vital role they play in the livestock sector.”

NSA is teaming up with British Wool for this event to help unify different parts of the industry and 'consolidate the similarities' between an auction mart and British Wool’s auctioning system.

British Wool producer marketing manager Gareth Jones said: “We are delighted to be working with NSA to travel around the UK, meeting sheep farmers and helping them understand how British Wool are working to maximise the value of their wool clip.”
