AN IMPRESSIVE display of tractors descended on Wallets Marts in Castle Douglas on Sunday, October 6, in aid of the Royal Highland Education Trust.

The event was organised by Stewartry Young Farmers and involved a charity tractor run featuring 61 tractors from as far afield as Whithorn and Annan. The tractors made quite the spectacle as they embarked on a 25-mile route, meandering through the local towns and villages such as Rhonehouse, Tongland and Kirkcudbright before arriving back at Wallet Marts. Between the tractor run which raised £720 and the clubs recent charity coffee morning which raised £325, they have been able to provide RHET with over £1000 in charity donations. The club's chairman John McCulloch commented: "We are delighted that as a club we have been able to raise so much money so far this year for our chosen club charity, RHET in Dumfries and Galloway, which is a very worthwhile cause and does incredibly important work teaching school children where their food comes from. This is important for us as young farmers and for the industry as a whole!"
