PREPARING FOR the long-term future of tenanted businesses will be the focus of the Scottish Tenant Farming Association's autumn meetings. Seven events are planned across the country from Stranraer to Inverness between November 25 and December 6 and will be led by a panel of industry experts explaining the intricacies of the new rent test, changes to succession and assignation and the workings of the newly launched Land Matching Service.

Commenting on the forthcoming meetings, STFA chairman Christopher Nicholson said: “It is highly likely that this next year will see the final implementation of some of the outstanding elements of the 2016 Land Reform Act.

“These meetings will help tenants anticipate the changes that lie ahead and will build on the work done over the last couple of years in emphasising the importance of the amnesty on tenant’s improvements. The meetings will also stress the importance of succession planning and encouraging the next generation into agricultural businesses. All meetings will commence at 1930: -
