PERTHSHIRE Agricultural Society has announced the new top table team that will lead the planning and staging of Perth Show 2020.

Mark Mitchell, managing partner at Bell Ingram, is the new chairman, supported by ANM Project farm Advisor Robert Gilchrist as vice chairman. Junior vice chairperson is Errol Primary School teacher Jen Leslie.

Mr Mitchell said that he was surrounded by the 'very solid team' of volunteer directors who assist in preparing and dismantling the showground as well as carrying out their duties, along with their stewards, on the show days of July 31 and August 1.

Secretary Neil Forbes said he was looking forward to working with the new team and was confident that they are a good blend of character and ability to assist carrying the show forward: "We must always keep Perth Show looking fresh with new attractions and ideas to encourage the general public to visit but not lose the true essence of an Agricultural and Equine show."

Mr Mitchell added that the entertainment committee was already working on new ideas to introduce to the show – children’s races, a sheaf tossing competition, a dog show and many other possible attractions to make the show a fun day out for all the family. There was also ongoing work in conjunction with Perthshire on a Plate (POAP) to grow the Food and Drink Festival which is held at the show.

Organisers stressed that livestock exhibitors remained a 'highly important' attraction to the show, and this was more than obvious at The Grand Parade of Livestock, which was one of the best outside the Royal Highland Show, with the ringside always deep with spectators.

The PAS expressed gratitude grateful to its major sponsors – Binn Group, Morris Leslie Group, Morris Young Group, United Auctions, and Concept Printers – for their continued support and to all other sponsors.

Trade Stands were also a major contributor in bringing people to the show and the society said that it would endeavour to bring more trade stands to give the audience a greater shopping day, whether it be tractors or a small craft items.
