Moredun Research Institute
As we enter a new decade, 2020 is a huge year for Moredun as we celebrate our Centenary! We were originally set up by farmers and we are still run by farmers and vets. Our original mission was to provide solutions for diseases which were devastating sheep flocks, which we did, and our wish list for our centenary year and beyond is:
• To continue to provide solutions for endemic diseases which have proved difficult nuts to crack, such as Johne’s disease and OPA;
• Fund-raising to allow us to provide Fellowships to promising young scientists to work in areas of high importance to the livestock industry. We have three in place and our wish is to be able to fund a further four by the end of the year;
• To resurrect the Moredun mobile laboratory! This is such an exciting project and construction is already underway. This will be more than a laboratory however, it will also be an educational and public engagement bus, allowing us to get our messages out far and wide.
Happy New Year to all who work with us, our valuable members, partners and collaborators, we look forward to 2020 with you!
