Quality Meat Scotland

The one constant in 2019 was change! It was a year of uncertainty caused by political, economic and unexpected challenges. The UK decision to leave the EU, the devaluation of the Pound, the outbreak of swine flu in China distorting international markets, the China/US trade deal impacting on world markets. So once again we have a new start, fresh hope and strong ambitions!

The QMS wish list is:

  • To have Scottish consumers who appreciate that they have the best quality meat products on their doorstep;
  • A supply chain that equitably rewards farmers, processors and each part of the supply chain, that wants to invest in its future;
  • Trade deals that enable our Scotch products to build on our world-class reputation, without compromising quality standards on meat imports.

The QMS resolutions are:

  • Further building the Scotch Beef PGI, Scotch Lamb PGI and Specially Selected Pork brands across all marketing platforms;
  • Working collaboratively with processors, retailers, food service, butchers and chefs to place our marketing activities as close to point of purchase as possible;
  • Working collaboratively with the red meat industry to defend and protect our industry from the anti-red meat lobbyists;
  • Building the capability and capacity of the industry to grow our brands in international markets.
