The Scottish Farmer was in Berlin this weekend as thousands of protesters gathered in front of the Brandenburg Gate, calling for fairer agricultural subsidies to support a move towards climate friendly farming.

We were told by demonstrators that politicians have failed to respond to the climate emergency, claiming that they continue to back big industrial scale farming at the expense of nature, which they say is leading to the closure of thousands of small farms.

Some farmers are demanding that public subsidies should only be used to support farmers that protect the environment, climate and animal welfare!

A full report from the rally complete with comments from campaigners and farmers alike, will be published in this week's Scottish Farmer.
