CROFTING COMMISSIONERS are advised to limit their travel where possible to minimise risk during the Coronavirus outbreak.
Commissioners due to travel to Inverness this Thursday, March 19, for a board meeting are to telephone in remotely.
At this point in time the meeting will still be open for members of the public to attend, but those Commissioners who live in more remote areas will take part in the meeting via a telephone link.
Crofting Commission Convener, Rod Mackenzie said: “Most of our Commissioners live in remote areas and we consider it prudent that where possible the Commission should limit travel to ensure the risk of transferring any infection is kept to a minimum.
"This is a time of year in the crofting calendar where most crofters self-isolate anyway with lambing and calving imminent and most of us would like to keep the exposure to infection at a minimum,” he advised.
