AN APPEAL for records of Hamilton's Auction Marts and Hamilton's and UA Partnership which had been lost, has come up trumps.
Retired auctioneer, Iain Thomson, who was part of the research team, said: "There was a most encouraging response to our appeal and an exhibition of sale catalogues, photographs, cash books and ledgers dating back to 1923, was held in Forss Hall in mid-February, at which more than £1100 was collected for Cancer Research UK.
"The display items have since been deposited in the Nucleus and Caithness Archives, in Wick, a most impressive modern facility which opened in 2018."
In the picture are Peter Mackay (left), long serving auctioneer who arranged the display at Forss, with Ms Ann Mackay, and Iain Thomson, who had been managing director of Hamilton's and UA Partnership from 1996 to 2002, with a sample of the records donated by local farmers.
