THE ROYAL Highland Show may be missing from all of our calendars, but SRUC have plans to host an exciting virtual show in its place.

The 'Great SRUC Virtual Country Show’ will take place between June 20-21, hosting a number of competitions, with prizes up for grabs.

Being held on SRUC’s Facebook page, the virtual show invites entries in nine categories including farm animals, baking, home-made crafts and dogs skills.

The results will be announced that same weekend and vouchers of £100, £50 and £25 will be awarded to the top three entries in nine categories.

People are asked to share their photos and videos on SRUC’s Facebook page by 11.59pm on Sunday June 14, with the three winners in each category decided by lecturers in the relevant departments.

Each first-placed winning entry will then be put to a public vote on the weekend of June 20-21, and the winner will be crowned Best in Show.

The categories are: Best Pet; Best Farm Animal; Best Horse or Pony; Best Home Grown Veg; Best Chicken or Feathered Friend; Best Bake; Best Hobby Craft; Dog Agility; and Best Bloom.
