SAYFC’S VIRTUAL Highland Show week has opened to members and promises something for everyone in a jam-packed schedule.

In an attempt to curb lockdown boredom, SAYFC has launched an array of competitions for members to enter, including 12 stockjudging classes - open for entry from today (Monday, June 15).

For those exploring their creative side this lockdown, there is a range of arts and crafts competitions on offer for you to show off your culinary and creative skills.

This Friday will play host to a quiz night, led by Ayrshire's Bob Dykes from 7.30pm including RHS trivia.

Prizegiving will take place on Saturday at 7.30pm for national results including Club Of the Year, Participation, Recruitment, Photography, Arts & Crafts, Valuation, Stockjudging & Quiz.

Colin Ferguson returns for an epic DJ session on Saturday night live from SAYFC Facebook from 9pm - 11pm. The dress code for those tuning in is 'Weekend diary now clear, I’m in my Highland Show gear.'

Rounding the virtual show off on Sunday, June 21, is the hotly contested Scotch Kitchen featuring Sunday kitchen shenanigans with Quality Meat Scotland on Facebook Live, being held between 7.30pm and 9.30pm.

SAYFC national chair, Gemma Bruce urged members to take part: “The Highland is everyone’s holiday usually, for all ages. The best thing about our schedule – is that majority of the online events and competitions are open to all … all the more reason for including those family members or friends who have already been members in the part or who aren’t members [yet]!

"We are fairly confident that there’s something for everyone, in the hope we prevent the dreaded Highland Show blues and withdrawal symptoms,” she concluded.
