SCOTLAND'S RURAL College has been ranked amongst the top 50 UK universities by Times Higher Education (THE).

Entering the list for the first time, not only has SRUC been ranked joint 49th best university in the UK but joint-eighth in Scotland and is among the top 500 in the world.

'THE' rankings are regarded as the most balanced and comprehensive global ranking, using 13 separate performance metrics covering the full range of core activities for research-intensive universities: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.

Principal and Chief Executive of SRUC, Professor Wayne Powell, said the ranking was testament to the outstanding teaching and research being done at SRUC with its new focus on the natural economy: “Given that this is our first appearance in the THE rankings this is an amazing achievement, providing solid foundations for growth and future success. I am so proud of my colleagues for their dedication and the outstanding contribution they make to society through their teaching and research endeavour.”
