DAIRY FARMERS receiving the Arla Foods on-account price for conventional and organic milk will see their cheques increase by 1.5 euro cents per kilo from May 2021.
When applied to the standard manufacturing litre, Arla’s conventional milk price will increase to 32.79 pence and organic milk increase to 41.15 pence per litre for Arla’s farmer owners.
Arla Foods amba board director, and farmer owner, Arthur Fearnall, said: “ This will be welcome news for our farmer owners who are becoming increasingly pressured by rising on farm costs. Commodity market prices have remained relatively stable in the last month supported by healthy demand and our strong operations. The current outlook is stable.”
UK Agriculture director at Arla, Alice Swift, added: “Ensuring the most value for our farmer owners for the milk they produce is crucial and continues to be our priority. The increase is testament to a strong business strategy, as well as the continued commitment of our farmer owners to industry leading animal welfare standards and working together across the cooperative to lead the way in sustainable dairy.”
