DAIRY PRODUCERS are being asked to help shape the future of antibiotic use in their industry.

As part of a four year project to better understand the barriers to responsible antibiotic usage, Scottish dairy farmers are being asked to take part in an online survey to share their views on current guidelines and compliance.

The project is the result of a partnership between retailer Lidl and the University of Glasgow School of Veterinary Medicine. Lidl GB's Head of Responsible Sourcing, Amali Bunter, said: “At Lidl we are continually monitoring and reviewing our supply chain to ensure we remain fully transparent to our loyal customers and support the highest levels of animal welfare.

“Through this exciting new partnership with University of Glasgow, we are seeking the first-hand knowledge and experience of our skilled Scottish dairy farmers to enable us to continue to choose the most responsible approach when it comes to animal antibiotics.”
