It was a day to remember for the Bradley family from the Old Barn, Far Hey, Lancashire, at the recent Solway and Tyne Texel breeders club Sale staged at Carlisle, when they smashed their top price to date at 70,000gns for Bradleys Eubank.

Ryan along with his parents, Robert and Jean; his partner, Kelly; and their son, Roman (7); had a field day when selling their reserve champion at the pre-sale show to in a four way split to Jeff Aiken of Proters Farm, Lancashire; Charlie Boden of the Sportsmans flock, Mellor Farm, Cheshire; Bruce and Fletcher Renwick, Castlecairn, Legars, Kelso; and Highfield Farming, The Knock, Duns, Berwickshire.

The sale leader ram lamb is a son of the 10,000gns Craig Douglas Dancer and out of one of eight flushing ewes in the flock.

With only 294 ram lambs finding new homes which cashed in at £1687.21.

Two ram lambs then made 30,000gns, first to do so was Cressage Epicentre from Matthew Ellis, Kilchoan, Shrewsbury, Shropshire. Second in his class at the pre-sale show he is sired by Mellor Vale Dakota and out of a Scholars bred ewe. Taking this boy home was Vaughan Farms, Oakfields, Kingsland, Herefordshire.

The first time selling tups met no disappointment for James Porter's seven ewe flock, Knock Cross, Penrith, Cumbria, when he sold Saltcotes E Class to Hugh and Alan Blackwood, Auldhouseburn, Muirkirk, Ayrshire. Another to be sired by Craig Douglas Dancer and out of a Knap Alligator sired-dam.

Father and son duo, Peter and Kenny Pratt, Oldtown, Peterculter, Aberdeen, sold their best ram lamb, Hilltop Escobar, for 16,000gns. This Castlecairn Diamond Vision is out of a Garngour Alabama sired-dam, and sold to James Porter, Knock Cross; P K Woof, Storth End, Stainton, Kendal; RS and J Bradley, Far Hey, Cross Lane, Salterforth.

Scottish breeders, the Ingram family from Logie Durno, Inverurie, Aberdeenshire, forked out 14,000gns for the ram lamb, Feddal Road Easypeasy from Alistair Smith, Allanview, Braco, Dunblane. This was paid for a Ellen Valley Dazzler son, out of a home-bred ewe backed by home-bred genetics, Feddal Road Boss Hogg.

Averages: 183 shearling rams, £1155.53; 294 lamb rams, £1687.21.
