On Monday, C and D Auction Marts' monthly sale of dairy cattle at Dumfries witnessed trade peak at £1820 and £1800 for British Friesian calved heifers from R Ritchie and Co, Fardingjames.

A small herd dispersal of Ayrshires and Guernseys from KM MacKay, South Bragar, Isle of Lewis, saw 27 head come under the hammer, with cows from this traditionally bred and farmed unit selling to £750 and £720 for Ayrshires and £740, twice, for Guernseys.
