A Texel gimmer from Messrs Smith, Yett, topped Lawrie and Symington's annual sale of 3700 breeding sheep, at Lanark, when selling for £760 to Miss H Lawson, Eastmains.

Mule gimmers hit £226 for the third prize pen from Allanton Farming, purchased by Messrs Steele, Over Kypeside. Mule ewe lambs sold to £158 on two occasions – for the first prize pen from Lochlyoch, and another pen from Nunnerie.

The dispersal of the Texel cross portion from Ashcraig Partners, Ashcraig, saw 256 sheep cash in at £180.

Averages improved on the year for all sections with Mule gimmers and ewe lambs at £182.35 (+£7.35) and £135.91 (+£14.70) respectively, whilst Texel gimmers cashed in at £190.90 (+£22.10).
