Beltex and Texel-bred rams and females from James and Thomas Whiteford's Tercrosset flock from Brampton, met a flying trade at Borderway Mart, Carlisle, selling as far north as the Shetland Islands, down to Devon in the south.
Females met a strong demand with 158 gimmers selling to average £401 per head with a top of 580gns paid for two pens of three purchased by L Skelton, Low House, Dearham and Sam Booth, Church View, Melton Mowbray. A pen of two sold for the same money to T Nixon, Longlea, Wark
The 153 ewe lambs averaged £201 with a top of 300gns paid for a pen of three purchased by DE and DM Roberts, Cilwr U Chaf, Llandeilo and for a pen of two bought by MM and R Morris, Maestanydwyden, Penybont.
The 142 shearling rams averaged £949.66 and sold to 4500gns for a Texel shearling ram which sold down to Devon with Messrs Moore, Holsworthy.
