On Monday, United Auctions sold 9473 lambs to include a show and sale of Blackface wedder lambs, where the Firm of Shawhead landed the supreme, before selling for £77.

Top price amongst the Blackfaces was however £81paid for a pen from Merkins.

Store lamb averages were mixed throughout, with Blackfaces levelling at £63.05 (+£4.78), Texel crosses at £84.17 (+£2.07). Suffolk crosses and Cheviots at £84.52 (+£1.71) and £69.14 (+£2.96); Mules £73.95 (-£3.18), and Beltex and Cheviot Mules averaging £84.78 (-£7.59) and £76.61 (-£7.89).

Gimmers reached £200 for Cheviot Mules from North Balloch, whilst Texel cross ewes realised £185 from Wester Middleton.
