Dumfriesshire Dutch Spotted breeder, Alistair Jackson, continued on his winning ways at a breed show and sale at Welshpool, producing the champion winner and top priced entry at 6500gns.

Selling at this price for the Tiptop flock from Annan, was the imported gimmer, Daniela, purchased by young Olwen Roberts for her Cynin flock at Llangynin, Saint Clears.

Mr Jackson also received 2500gns from M and J Evans, Beulah, for the imported gimmer, Daleyza.

Lead priced ewe lamb at 2600gns was Cnwch Evangeline, an April-born Merryboro Dewi daughter from ARP and DR Wilson, Cnwch flock, purchased by ID Gregory, Slacksdale Farm, near Buxton. This ewe lamb was a full sister to their 2200gns ewe lamb sold at Worcester last month.

Tom and Louise Nash, followed with their substitute lot, Merryboro Expect to Fly, by Merryboro Cracker, which made 2400gns to MI and J Bushby, Totnes for their newly formed Leighbridge flock.

Top price amongst the males was 3800gns paid for the ram lamb, Lower Argoed Elite, a Wedderburn Dancer son from Bethan Jones. He sold to Cannon Hall Farm, Cawthorne, near Barnsley.

Cannon Hall Farm also bought the lead priced shearling ram at 2000gns from W and S Workman, Beacons Daan. He is bred by AE and TC Evans and is sired by Lochlad Braveheart.

Graded females from Drew Guthrie, Selkirk, sold to 650gns for a grade three ewe lamb, purchased by A Baker, Llanidloes, Powys.

Averages: Three gimmers, £3500; 36 ewe lambs, £1558; 10 graded ewe lambs, £457; four shearling rams, £1262; 49 ram lambs, £557.
