It was a day to remember for the Bradley family from the Old Barn, Far Hey, Lancashire, at the Solway and Tyne Texel Breeders' Club sale at Carlisle, when they achieved their top price to date of 70,000gns with the ram lamb, Bradleys Eubank.

Ryan along with his parents, Robert and Jean; his partner, Kelly; and their son, Roman (7); had a field day when selling the reserve champion at the pre-sale show to in a three-way split to the Procters flock, Lancashire, managed by Jeff Aiken; Charlie Boden of the Sportsmans flock, Mellor Farm, Cheshire; Bryden Nicholson buying for the Knockem flock, Duns and Bruce Renwick, Castlecairn, Kelso.

Their purchase is a son of last year's 10,000gns purchase, Craig Douglas Dancer, whilst the dam is one of eight flushing ewes in the flock, being sired by Fordafourie Amalert. Eubank is also a full brother to the Lanark champion the previous week which made 7000gns.

Two lambs made 30,000gns, with the first being Cressage Epicentre from Matthew Ellis, Kilchoan, Shrewsbury, brought out by shepherd, Will McCaffrey. Second in his class at the pre-sale show, he is by the 12,000gns Mellor Vale Dakota and out of a Scholars-bred ewe, that was the grand-dam of the 38,000gns Cressage Enforcer sold at Lanark. He headed home with Vaughan Farms, Kingsland, Herefordshire.

James Porter's seven-ewe Saltcotes flock also came up with the goods for his first year selling from the Knock Cross, Penrith, when he sold Saltcotes E Class for 30,000gns to Hugh and Alan Blackwood, Auldhouseburn, Muirkirk. Another by the 10,000gns Craig Douglas Dancer he is out of a Knap Alligator sired-dam that was second at last year's Texel online show.

Father and son duo, Peter and Kenny Pratt, Oldtown, Peterculter, Aberdeen, sold their lamb, Hilltop Escobar, for a personal best of 16,000gns. A son of Castlecairn Diamond Vision, he is bred from a Garngour Alabama sired-dam bought for 18,000gns in partnership with Strathbogie at Edward Pugh's dispersal at Carlisle, last year. A bus load of breeders came together for this lad – James Porter, Satlcotes; Peter Woof, Stainton, Kendal; RS and J Bradley, Far Hey; Messrs Bradley, Salterforth, Colne; Spiros Spyrou, Gib Farm, Hebden Bridge; and Geoff Riby, Low Stonehills, Fraisthorpe.

In an all Scottish transaction, Alistair Smith, Allanview, Braco, Dunblane, sold his lamb, Feddal Road Easypeasy for 14,000gns to the Ingram family from Logie Durno, Inverurie, Aberdeenshire.

Surpassing their previous best by 9000gns, having only been in the breed for four years and now running 30 Texel females, their unshown lamb is by Ellen Valley Dazzler and out of a home-bred ewe by Feddal Road Boss Hogg.

The pre-sale judge Steven Renwick of the Craig Douglas flock based at Glenrath, Peebles, backed his decision and bought his choice of champion at 10,000gns. This was Procters Einstein, a son on the 350,000gns Sportsmans Double Diamond, from Procters Farm, Lancshire. His dam is by Teiglum Younggun.

The same home also achieved 9000gns for Procters Eye Catcher, for another by Double Diamond, this time out of a 100,000gns Sportsmans Batman sired-ewe. He sold in a four-way split to Dye Clark, Lee Meadow, Carluke; Bruce and Fletcher Renwick, Castlecairn, Legars, Kelso; Dave Preacher, Holylee, Walkerburn; and Bryden Nicolson, Knockem.

Procters Farm flock manager, Jeff Aiken and his wife, Jennifer, also took 10,000gns for Coniston Equinox, a lamb with the exact same genetics from their Coniston flock which sold to Donald Macpherson, buying for his Hexel flock from Berwick upon Tweed.

A substitute entry from Tom Morgan, Woodend Hall, Coton, Whitchurch, made 8000gns selling to Willy Davies, Usk Vale, Glascoed, Gwent; Messrs Vaughan, Newcastle Under Lyne; and Rob Evans, Hope Valley, Shrewsbury. Morwood Eurostar, is bred from a Clinterty Yogi Bear sired-ewe and sired by the 32,000gns Garngour Detroit, making him a full brother to a previous £20,000 privately sold lamb

Donald Macpherson, also had a field day when his best made 8000gns selling down to Wales with Euros Jones, Ynys Toddeb, Llangadog. The ram lamb, Hexel Emoji is a son of Haymount Crackerjack which has previously bred lambs to 38,000gns, while the dam is a full sister to the 65,000gns Hexel Django and 14,000gns Hexel Diamond Joe, being sired by Procters Chumba Wumba.

Bruce and Fletcher Renwick, Castlecairn, financed some of their purchases with Castlecairn Eye Of The Tiger, which sold for 7000gns to Alan Campbell, Strawfrank, Carstairs, Lanark, and Ewan MacTaggart, Rascarrel, Castle Douglas. A son of Sportsmans Cannon Ball, he is out of a home-bred dam by Midlock Ali Baa Baa.

Top price amongst the shearlings was 8000gns on two occasions. First was Norman and David Douglas' Yarrow Diamond, from Catslackburn, Yarrow, purchased by Messrs Watson and Co, Berwick Upon Tweed and Messrs Murray and Partners, Hetton Law, Lowick. A son of Craig Douglas Alonso, he is out of a home-bred ewe by Yarrow Yazza.

On the same money was Peacehay Dance Monkey from Somerset-based breeder, Frank Henry Chave, Peacehay, purchased by Messrs Smith, Hawick.

This one, a son of Mullan Armani, is bred from the second prize ewe at Devon County Show, by Peacehay Untouchable.

The best from GW and K Williams, Tyn Llyn, Lampeter, Ceredigion, made 4500gns in a two-way split to Messrs Weaver, Knapthorpe, Newark, and Messrs Longdin, Tickhill, Doncaster. Dragon Dinomite is by Fachell Bobs Worth and bred from a Knap Waverly dam.

Gimmers sold the previous day peaked at 7000gns for a Sportsmans female from Charlie Boden, Stockport, Cheshire. Third at the pre-sale show, she is by Garngour Craftsman, bred from a Knap Vicious Sid daughter and sold to Messrs Castle, Washingley, Peterborough. S

The same home sold another by the same sire but bred from a Teiglum Younggun sired-dam to John Sinnett, Wetheral, Carlisle for 4000gns

Keith Jamieson's Annan dispersal met a sound trade selling to 6500gns for the first lot in the ring, a gimmer by Procters Crackerjack, bred from a Knock Yardsman daughter. She sold to Charlie Boden

Not far behind at 5500gns was a Midlock Avicii sired-gimmer, purchased by the Campbell brothers at Lochgoilhead, Argyll.
