A single gimmer from Hugh and Alan Blackwood, Auldhouseburn, topped Lawrie and Symington's sale of Blackface ewes, gimmers and ewe lambs at Lanark, which included a stock dispersal and reduction sale of lowland females, selling for £9000, when selling to Messrs McCurdy, Northern Ireland.
Second top price was £2500 paid for a pen of six Blackface gimmers from John Murray, Crossflatt, purchased by Messrs Shaw, Acharonich.

Draft ewes were topped at £500 from Messrs Wright, Midlock selling to Andrew Campbell, Ben Nevis followed at £460 from Archie and John MacGregor, Allanfauld to Messrs Rankin, Gartachorrans.
Blackface ewe lambs were topped at £110 from H Blackwood, Midtown.
Overall, 1170 Blackface ewes averaged £135.69 with 791 Blackface gimmers cashing in at £190.64 and 1497 ewe lambs at £61.29.
The stock reduction of 183 head from Messrs Fleming, Cronberry sold to average £129.08 with prices peaking at £158 and £152 for three and two-crop ewes respectively.
Daltallochan Hill's dispersal of 1000 head of sheep saw 773 stock Blackface ewes average £104.54; 206 Blackface gimmers at £118.83 and 188 ewe lambs cash in at £60.59.
Ring 2 saw 395 Cheviot and lowland ewes and 68 rams come under the hammer which sold to £250 for Suffolk cross Texel gimmers from Gosland.
Texels from Mains of Tain, topped the ewes at £118.
Texel shearlings from Messrs Orr, Wester Walston, led the ram trade at £800 on three occasions with Blue Texel shearling selling to £720 from Wester Walston and Hartside.
