Lanarkshire sheep farmer, Jimmy Bell backed his decision as judge at Harrison and Hetherington's annual show and sale of uncrossed Swaledale ewes and gimmers at Middleton and Teesdale, and bought his choice of champion winners at £500 per head.

The entry of 3110 head, saw the top pen of 10 from Messrs Bainbridge, Ash Dub sell at this price in partnership with fellow Lanarkshire sheep farmer, Ted Fox.

The reserve honours were presented to the second prize pen from Messrs Raine, Stanhope Gate, which sold at £400 to Mr Fox.

Messrs Raine also won the gimmer class which topped the section and again sold to the judge at £190
