A new Lincoln Red female breed record of 5200gns was achieved at Harrison and Hetherington’s pedigree beef autumn sale day, however it was the British Blue female, Stonebyres Primrose that secured the top price of 5600gns.

This February 2020-born Blue heifer from Blair and Shona Comrie, Stonebyres Mains, Lanark, is a daughter of Clinton Du Falgi, and out of Stonebyres Jasmine, which goes back to Tamhorn Enterprising. She now travels to Wales with Messrs Gethin, Llanwyddelan, Tregynon, Newtown.

Hallfield Orca led the Blue bull trade at 5100gns for Stewart Gill, Hallfield House, Darce, Harrogate. This two-year-old is by Farouk De St Amand, out of the Heros Du Peroy daughter, Pendle Knock Em Out, and found a new home with Messrs Temple, Ulpha, Broughton In Furness.

Just behind on 4500gns was the two-year-old, Hawthorn Blues Onetoomany from Simon Hughes, Hawthorn View, Llanwyddelan, Newton. Forking out the cash for this Astrics Monty son were Messrs Morrison and Sons, Longmanhill, Banff.

Setting a new female breed record at 5200gns was the Lincoln Red heifer, Brackenhurst Grace Y536 from Nottingham Trent University, Brackenhurst Campus, Southwell. This March 2019-born heifer is by one of the breeds most influential sires, Beverley Raider, whilst the dam, Brackenhurst Grace S388 is by Market Stainton Matador. Adding to her future potential, she sold in calf to Premier Young Gun for January. Reserve champion at the pre-sale show, she was purchased by University of Lincoln, Lincolnshire.

The same consignors and purchasers were behing the female champion, Brackenhurst Diana Y532, which made 3500gns. Bred the same way she also sold due in January to Young Gun.

On the same money was Auchmacoy Nancy Y494 from S Buchan, The Estate office, Auchmacoy, Ellon. This in-calf heifer is a daughter of Brackenhurst Whistler, out of Auchmacoy Nancy V365 and is due to Brackenhurst Wiseguy. Messrs Bradley and Sons, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, were the final bidders.

Beef Shorthorns peaked at 2800gns for Mayfield Phantom from Gerard Te Lintelo, Mayfield, Wolsingham. This April 2020-born bull is a son of Mayfield Maximus Primus, and left the ring with Messrs Routledge and Sons, Kirklinton, Carlisle, Cumbria.

Messrs Dinwoodie, Canonbie, Dumfriesshire, forked out 3300gns for the sole Charolais bull sold, Retties Roughdiamond from Richard and Carol Rettie, Perth.

Blonde bulls hit 2800gns for Hallfield Ricardo from P Weightman and Sons, Hallfield, Easington, Co Durham, which travelled up to Orkney with Messrs Sinclair, Maesquoy.

Topping the Aberdeen-Angus section at 2600gns was the June 2020-born bull, Wensleydale Black Western W018 from Christopher Timm, Pickering, purchased by Messrs Moore, Haile, Egremont, Cumbria.

The sole Hereford bull cashed, Normanton 1 Tendulker from TD and WT Livesey, Normanton le Heath, found a new home with Messrs Patterson and Son, Capheaton, Newcastle Upon Tyne, at 2000gns.
