The Reed family, Lands Farm, West Gate, continued their run of success with breeding rams, producing the overall champion and sale leader at £6500 at Harrison and Hetherington's Bluefaced Leicester sale at Kirkby Stephen.
Their show stopper, West Biggins P1, a ram lamb by the Highberries H2, sold to Richard Hargreaves, Judge Chris Pears, Fell Side House, Caldbeck, found his reserve in the second prize ram lamb, Low Tipalt P005, a son of the Low Tipalt N001, which later made £900 to Messrs Slack, Stoneriggs, Hilton.

Another from the Reed's West Biggin's flock made £3000, selling to Messrs Walton, West Shotton, Darlington. He is by 3425/H2. The flock also secured the lead average of £2283.33 for six.
Allan and Ben Wight, Midlock, Abington, had another good day with shearling rams to £4500 for Midlock N20, a son of the home-bred L27, out of a Marriforth G2 dam. He sold to the Booth's buying for their Smearsett flock from Old Hall Farm, Feizor.
Neil Marston's Highberries flock from Cockermouth, sold to £3500 for Highberries P21, a Carry House M009 son purchased by Messrs Pattinson, Pinfold House, Bishop Auckland.
Another ram lamb from the same home made £3000. Highberries P007, by 3425/N10 was knocked down to Messrs Richardson, Low Garth, Cockermouth.
Matching that £3000 bit was a ram lamb from Messrs Brown, Asby Hall, a son of the Smearsett K1. He headed home with John Smith-Jackson, Hightown, Halthwistle.
A flying trade throughout so no fewer than 62 rams sell at four figure prices.
