Bullocks and heifers balanced out at 240p and 221p respectively at C and D Auction Marts' fortnightly sale of store cattle at Dumfries, staged alongside the autumn sale of 711 organic status cattle.

Leo Petrucci, Outer Blair, sold the highest priced organic bullocks at £1500 with Simmental crosses, while a Charolais heifer from Matthew Hamilton, Woolfords realised £1120.

The 435 non-organic cattle included 75 British Blue cross heifers from A and F Baillie, Low Glasnick, with the best pen selling to £1460.

Out with the consignment, bullocks cashed in at 217p and peaked at 282.8p for Aberdeen-Angus’ from Brandeleys and £1325 for more of the same from No 3 Woodhall.

Heifers sold to 301.2p and £1460 for British Blues from Low Glasnick, to average 224.4p.
