A new compact trailed pneumatic seed drill combination from Pöttinger, is aimed at leaving behind a conserved soil and comes with a working width of 5m.

The latest Aerosem 5000 DD drill is designed to offer precise ground tracking and comes supplied with a soil conserving packer. This consolidates the soil after the seedbed prep, which uses a Lion 103 C series power harrow.

Its large-volume packer tyres reduce the pressure applied to the ground and minimise rolling resistance to prevent any bulldozing effect. That large contact area, in combination with its grooved profile, produces an optimum consolidation of the seed rows, said Pöttinger.

In addition, the packer is hydraulically damped to support smooth operation during sowing. This allows high operating speeds across many different types of soil.

Thanks to its trailed design, the powering tractor does not need to lift heavy implements, plus the uniform weight distribution is ensured because the machine is attached to the lower linkage arms and guided by the tyre packer.

The longitudinal, easy access pressurised hopper has a capacity of 2800 litres and is divided 50:50 so that seed can be drilled with fertiliser, or on its own. Special attention has been paid to providing easy access to the seed hopper.

However, its compact design and the intelligent configuration of the seed hopper gives it excellent manoeuvrability. Even with dual wheels on the driving tractor, it is possible to turn straight into the next pass.

The newly-designed Aerosem pressurised metering system ensures accurate seed flow rates regardless of the type of seed, or working conditions. Each side of the hopper features a separate metering system, but feeds the same single chute seed line.

These metering systems can be controlled independently of each other, meaning that two application maps can be used for site-specific drilling.

The proven double disc coulter system gives precise seed placement, with these large coulters slightly offset to form a clean and tidy planting slot. With up to 60 kg applied to each seed coulter, this cutting through is guaranteed even at higher driving speeds.

Also new is the latest Terrasem pneumatic mulch seed drills from Pöttinger which are in working widths of 3m to 6m. These come with or without passive seedbed preparation and have either highly flexible injector metering, or pressurised hopper metering system.

Suitable for mulch and direct mulch drilling, as well as on ploughed fields, a new configuration of its tillage tools ensures the machine works 100% in a straight line with no crabbing.

The disc harrow as well as the fertiliser coulters (D Z-machine) and seed coulters are mounted in an 'X' configuration, with seedbed prep' ensured by the aggressive point angle of the leading tools.

There is a wide choice of application possibilities – seed, seed with fertiliser and additional components such as micro-granules, companion crop, or even a second type of seed with the Terrasem DZ models. And, each component can be deposited at different depths.

With a row spacing of 12.5 cm as standard, or 16.7 cm as an option, those machines with a single hopper have injector metering, while all Terrasem Classic models come without tillage tools and fertiliser capability.

The 'Z' designation signifies double seed hopper machines equipped with a pressurised hopper system. The two-part hopper with a fixed 60:40 partition can also be filled with 100% seed.
