Wooler

Harrison and Hetherington's weekly sale of primestock included a show of 1206 lambs and 532 cast sheep, where trade reached a top price of at £169 for Beltex from Swarland Old Hall and 393p for more of the same from Annstead.

Among the cast sheep rings, RJ Bradbury of Black Heddon topped the sale, this time with a smart pen of Texels to receive £205.

Dumfries

A top of 270p per kg was attained among the prime cattle at C and D Auction Marts' sale from Yett.

Among the OTM cattle, a Charolais realised £1394.40 for Gairloch, and to 185p for a Limousin from Lantonside.

The firm also held their sale of 544 prime lambs which cashed in at 241.2p having sold to £124 for Suffolks from Netherhall, and to 269p for Texels from Bushcroft.

Texels from Wester Parkgate proved popular among the cast ewes which led the trade at £161.

Forfar

Limousins secured the top prices at Lawrie and Symington's weekly primestock sale, with bullocks reaching a top of 270p for a 626 kg entry from the Gask and to £1699.12 for a 634 kg animal from Nethermyres, to average 268p.

Heifers attained 288p for a 558kg Limousin from West Bog or £1674.40 for a 598kg Limousin from the same home, to cash in at 259p.

Among the prime lambs, the sale peaked at £153 for a 47kg Texel from D Stewart and Son, Mains of Dalrulzion and to 346.5p for a 43kg Beltex from the Firm of MG Reid, Gyratesmyre, to cash in at 269p with an SQQ of 270.9p.

Texels led the cast sheep too, with prices reaching £158 from Mains of Dalrulzion.

Huntly

All classes of primestock enjoyed a buoyant demand at United Auctions' weekly sale, where 1175 lambs sold to average 247.5p having topped at 300p for a pen of 40kg Beltex crosses from Muirton, Drybridge and to £149 for 67.5kg Texels from Cobbleheugh, Dinnet.

Ewes attained £132 for a pair of Beltex from Conval Street, Dufftown.

Stirling (Cale)

Caledonian Marts’ sale saw heifers and bullocks average 262p and 232p per kg, having sold 288p for a Limousin heifer from DS and RC Taylor, Easter Ochtermuthill, Muthill and to £1762 for a Limousin bullock from the same home.

Bulls sold to 232p and £1610 for a Limousin from W Dick and Sons, Mains of Throsk, Throsk.

Easter Ochtermuthill also topped the sheep trade which saw 1432 lambs average 262p. They sold 49kg Beltex at £160 and 327p per kg with Beltex ewes from the same home making £202 to top the cast trade.

Stirling UA

Texels and Beltex led United Auctions’ sale of 5859 lambs, which averaged 268.19p per kg having sold to £160.50 from Elmscleugh, and 339p per kg from Cuiltburn.

Cast ewes peaked at £192 for Texels from Middle Ballat.

Thainstone

Averages were up on the week for all classes at Aberdeen and Northern Marts’ sale, where bullocks averaged 209.8p per kg and heifers at 219.2p.

Bullocks sold to 245p for a 545kg Limousin from Whiteside, Tullynessle, and to £1477 for a 700kg Limousin from Windsoer Farm, Enzie.

Heifers reached 239p per kg for a 565kg Charolais from Hillocks, Whiterashes, or £1433.25 for a 735kg Simmental from Brewthin, Cullerlie.

Young bulls sold to 207p for a 805kg Charolais from Milton of Collieston, Ellon, and to £1683.50 for a 910kg Charolais from Spengar, Sandwick, to average 193.3p.

The 1136 lambs which averaged 238.2p were topped 277.6p and £136 for 49kg Beltex from Logie Durno, Pitcaple, while feeding sheep sold to £191 for Texel ewes from Mid Haddo, Fyvie.

Longtown

The 4360 lambs forward at C and D Auction Marts’ sale saw an average of 278.7p with an SQQ of 280.1p.

Top price was £170 paid for Texel lambs from C Ryrie, East Kirk, Caithness or to 346p for Beltex from G and W Halliday, Crawthat, Lockerbie and MA and J Thompson, High Hall, Wigton.

The 4409 ewes sold to £216 from R Harris, Auchengool Cottage, Dundrennan and from M Buchan, Torrax, Angus. Rams attained £228 for a Suffolk consigned from Beckfoot.

Lanark

Limousins topped Lawrie and Symington’s sale, with heifers selling to 280p and £1854 from from Messrs Dickinson, Brockwoodlees, Canonbie, while bullocks sold to 262p and £1886 from the same home.

The 4482 lambs saw prices peak at £165 for Bluefaced Leicesters from Messrs Warnock, Eastfield and to 348p for Beltex from Downie Farming, Newton of Crathie, to balance out at 272p with an SQQ of 273p.

The 2830 cast ewes and rams were topped at £214 for Texels from W and J Boyd, Dechmont.

St Boswells

Harrison and Hetherington’s weekly sale saw bullocks (28) and heifers (31) average 246p per kg and 259p respectively, with bullocks having sold to £1771.44 from Brockholes and 289p per kg from Faughhill.

Heifers hit £1763.86 and 301p from Bee Edge, while Huntington and Muircleugh led the cast cattle at £1484.34 and 189p respectively.

Texels from Haltree topped the lambs at £145, while Beltex from Wester Ulston sold for the top price per kg of 285p.

Cast ewes reached £133 for seven Suffolk crosses from F and CM Forster, Hermiston, with tups to £153 for a Suffolk from JW Fullerton and Sons, Corsbie.

Ayr

High Gameshill secured three of the top four prices at Craig Wilson Marts’ sale selling Limousin bullocks at 274p per kg and £1616.60 and a heifer at 271p.

Top price per head amongst the heifers was £1657.50 from Borland Farms.

The 1920 lambs averaged 216.4p selling to £128 for Beltex from J and R Mitchell, Fowler and to 270.2p for more of the same from J and W Watson, Muir.

Cast ewes sold to £142 for a Texel from M and R Currie, Westlands.

Carlisle

On Monday, Harrison and Hetherington, sold 80 prime steers and heifers which sold to a top of £1994.96 for a Limousin cross from Messrs Dixon, Low Whinnow, Carlisle.

Heifers sold to £1962.23 and 309.5p per kg from Messrs Smith, North Boig, Cumnock.

The 91 prime bulls saw four sell for more than £2000 peaking at £2181.01 for a Limousin cross from Messrs Hunter, Upper Brydekirk, Annan.

Lambs averaged 282p or £126.50 per head with an SQQ of 292p.

Top price was £178 and 414.5p per kg for two separate pens of Beltex from Messrs Whiteford, Tercrosset.

Dingwall

Dingwall and Highland Marts heifers to average 238.8p, peaking at 251.0p per kg for a 565kg Limousin cross from Mountrich, and £1469.85 for a 615kg Charolais cross from the same home.

Lambs cashed in at 244.7p having sold to 259.2p 49kg Beltex from Craigiebank Farms, Keith or £136 for 55kg Suffolks from Muirton Mains, Urray.

Feeding sheep sold to a top of £148 for Texel ewes from Torgorm, Conon Bridge.

Castle Douglas

Wallets Marts sold 1443 ime lambs to average 265.81p with an SQQ of 269.14p.

Prices peaked at £144.50 for Texels from Galtway and 317.2p for Beltex from Messrs Walker and Son, Mindork.

Cast sheep were topped at £160 for Beltex from Messrs Smith, Barmurrie.
