First time exhibitor, Archie Knox (18), South Haddo, Fyvie, made his presence felt in the Rising Stars Exhibition Calf Show, winning not only the Young Farmers’ section but also the supreme.
His winner, a March-born British Blue cross heifer bred by Gary Bell, Haas Side, Lockerbie, was bought at the overwintering competition sale at Thainstone, in October, and was on her first outing since.

Reserve honours went to the open champion, Sugar N Spice, a Beef Shorthorn cross heifer from Michael Robertson, and sons, Scott and Mark, Fodderletter Farms, Tomintoul. Native champion at the Agri Expo, she also stood second to the overall champion at the Carlisle event
Bred at Smallburn Farms, this March-born entry is by Meonside Javelin, out of a British Blue cross dam.
