Averages: Nine, cows in milk, £2111.66; 84 heifers in milk, £2073.66

A joint top price of 3000gns was smashed on three occasions at Border and Lakeland's monthly dairy sale, staged through Harrison and Hetherington, Carlisle, with an overall average of £2083 achieved.

Judge, Alistair Marshall, awarded his champion to Espland Chip Sadie, securing the fifth consecutive monthly champion for the Cannon family, Appleby, which was then sold as part of the Espland dispersal for 3000gns to the Oldfield family, Gisburn. Espland sold 11 cows and heifers to average £2104. This May 2019 born cow is sired by Mr Chassity Gold Chip and out of Espland Sadie 2.

After his dispersal earlier in the year, Matthew Armour of the Annandale herd, Milton, Moffat, sold two bulls at 3000gns each. First to hit the jackpot was the June 2020 born bull, Annandale Longstaff. This boy is a son of the 8000gns Annandale Kraft, out of Annandale Lanvin Lausan VG88, and found a new home with Messrs Mitchell, Hutton In The Forrest, Skelton, Penrith.

Also travelling down to Penrith was Annandale Kaden this time with Messrs Whitton, Ousby. This two-year-old bull is the result of the DG Calando sire onto Annandale Wyoming Kimberley.

Back among the females and on the 2800gns price tag was the September 2019 cow, Berryholme Dealmaker Rose from Aberdeenshire breeders, Peter Kemp, Cairdhillock, Kingswell. A Claynook Dealmaker daughter, she is out of Berryholme Soloman Rose and sold to Messrs Robinson, Humshaugh, Hexham.

In an all Scottish transaction, Messrs Taylor, from Lockerbie, forked out 2450gns for Aytonian Tamora from Robert Steel, Kepculloch Farm, Balfron Station, Glasgow. This September 2019 born cow is sired by All Nure Secretariat, whilst the dam Aytonian Tamora 348 is backed by Val-Bisson Doorman. This home sold four heifers to average £2244.
