A Limousin heifer from I Powley, Green Marsh, Carlisle, secured the top price of £1820 at Mitchells Auction's show and sale of store cattle at Cockermouth.

Mr Powley also lifted the championship with a British Blue heifer, which sold for the second top price of £1800, with the judge, Ben Park, Kirklands, finding his reserve in a Limousin steer from S Hardisty and Son, How Hall, Ennerdale, that made £1480

Steers peaked at £1715 for a British Blue from Messrs Harryman, Keskadale, Newlands.

Young bulls were also in demand, selling to £1345 for a Limousin from WG and D Wilkinson, Brookfield, Torver.
