Crofters across Scotland are being invited to a free forestry event to discuss the opportunity of growing trees to boost their business.

'Tea and Trees with Crofters' is being organised by Scottish Forestry and the Scottish Government and held online on Thursday Feb 17, between 6 and 7pm.

Scottish Forestry’s forestry and farming development officer, Lyn White, said: “This is the third Tea and Trees with Crofters event that we have held as they have proved very popular.

“The plan is to bring crofters together in an informal get-together where they can chat and share their experiences of growing trees. It’s a great way for any crofter who is considering growing trees to find out a bit more about it, and make contact with others who have been and done it.

“At the event we will have specialists from Scottish Forestry and the Woodland Trust, who operate the Croft Woodland Project. Andrew Hall, who is a Shetland crofter, will be logging on too and he will be sharing his thoughts on how he has successfully integrated trees into his business.”

Previous events have attracted crofters from all over Skye, North Uist, Applecross. Lewis and Sutherland. Any crofter is welcome to join in to the online event, which is part of the Integrating Trees Network programme which is run by Scottish Forestry and the Scottish Government.
