Trade topped at £2500 on two occasions at the recent Borderway monthly dairy day staged through Harrison and Hetherington, with 43 animals selling for above £2000.

Joint sale leader came in the form of the heifer, Coopon Monson Joyce from Michael Wilson of the Wreaywood herd. She is a daughter of Bomaz AltaMonson, out of Coopon 1stClass Joyce 3 GP83 SP, and was giving 36kg. She found a new home with Messrs Fisher, Kirkcudbright, Kirkcudbrightshire.

Another from the same home helped the Wreaywood pen of 10 cash in at £2097 this one was Wreaywood Rager Mandy Red when achieving £2380. This girl is sired by Ri-Val-Re Rager-Red, the dam, Wreaywood Spectrum Mandy Red G78 and she was giving 43kg, when also finding a new home in Dumfries and Galloway this time with Messrs Paul and Son, Lockerbie.

The second heifer to sell for £2500 was Netherlea AltaBlast Tatum consigned by the Baillie family from Longlea in Lanarkshire. This January 2020 born heifer is the result of S-S-I Berryridge Altablast sire onto the dam, Netherlea Altapatent Tatum. Messrs Millar, Kirkpatrick Fleming, Lockerbie, were the final bidders.

John Craig and Son from Carneil Farm near Dunfermline sold five animals to average £2375, topping the cow trade at £2480 with Kibbleston Max Ivy. This second calver was giving 45kg and is sired by Woodcrest Mr Max. She sold to Messrs Kincaid, Lochmaben, Lockerbie.

Kibbleston Totem Bess also made her mark for the same home when attaining £2380. Messrs Kincaid, Lochmaben, Lockerbie, get for their money a S-S-I Millington Totem daughter, out of Kibbleston Phantom Bess GP82. This heifer was giving 34kg.

Covington Hartley Whitney made £2450 for J and W Baillie, Hillhead of Covington, Thankerton, when selling to Messrs Henderson, Annan, Dumfriesshire. This cow was giving 51kg being sired by De-Su Hartley and out of Covington Watt Whitney VG85.

A small number of Ayrshire heifers peaked at £2280 for a heifer giving 35kg from the Mattinson family of the Troutbeck herd, Wigton. This freshly calved heifer now travels south with Messrs Mason, Shrewsbury, Shropshire.

British Friesian hit £2050 for a second lactation cow consigned from the Bells of the Nerewater herd near Wigton.
