Liebherr's compact wheeled loader series has been extended from the bottom down, to include the new L 504 compact – plus improvements to the rest of the range.

Launched in 2013, its compact series has now been comprehensively overhauled and expanded with this new model.

For the range, the most important innovations include a redesigned operator's cab, with more glass area and better visibility of the lift arms. And, due to customer demand, the original L 506 and L 508 models can now be available as 'Speeder' variants, which have a top speed of 30 km/h.

The new L 504 compact wheeled loader becomes the company's smallest model its machine height remains under 2.5m – the same as with the L 506, making them easy to transport on a trailer. The new L 508 compact, though, is larger and wider.

All the latest versions have uprated lift arms with z-bar kinematics, which helps with a wide variety of attachments. Liebherr has optimised the parallel guidance for safe and precise operation when working with forks.

To increase versatility, Liebherr also now offers optional High Lift arms for the L 506 and L 508 models, for greater reach and allowing loading of taller transport vehicles.

Liebherr will also be giving the option of its fully automatic quick coupler system, Likufix for the three compacts. This allows operators to change between mechanical and hydraulic working tools from the cab at the touch of a button, saving time and reduced risk of accidents.

The redesigned cab now has a windscreen that reaches into the foot area of the operator's cab for better visibility in all directions, particularly of the attachment and in the articulation area. The rear screen is now curved on the sides, enabling an unobstructed view of the rear area. A backup camera can be had on request.

The controls are neatly-arranged and with the well-proven Liebherr control lever, the machine operator can operate the lift arms and attachment easily. This work can also be done by an optional mini joystick on the control lever, which can control additional hydraulic functions.

Optionally available is an infinitely-adjustable steering column; the display, standard on all machines, is also adjustable and located on the A pillar in the cab.

The design has also been freshened up, with the engine bonnet now giving greater visibility from the cab. The lift arms are tapered to optimise the view of the attachment and the target material.
