The Scottish Land Matching Service will be holding ‘drop-in’ sessions on the NFU Scotland/NFU Mutual stand at this year’s Royal Highland Show, from 2pm to 4pm on both the Thursday and Friday.

Having been established in October 2019, this will be the first time the SLMS will have attended the Royal Highland Show.

Formed in response to industry concerns about the lack of opportunities for new entrants to the industry relating to availability of agricultural land and letting in Scotland and difficulty in accessing capital funding, SLMS acts as a free service connecting those with spare land and finance, and those that need it.

It engages with those seeking or offering joint venture arrangements in relation to land and facilitates those discussions. By doing so, it aims to provide a platform for opportunities for the next generation of farmers and form part of an exit strategy for farmers wishing to take a gradual or complete step back from farming.

“We’re delighted to be holding these sessions where we can discuss the service and options available with interested parties face-to-face at what will be our first RHS.” explained SLMS's Ian Davidson. “I’d encourage anyone interested in finding out more about what the service could offer them to ‘drop-in’ for a chat with either myself or Allan Young between 2pm and 4pm on the Thursday and Friday of the Show. The stand is located in Avenue O, Stand Number 572, opposite the new members pavilion, between the SAYFC building and Tesco Stand.”
