Record priced Beef Shorthorns at 24,000gns and 20,000gns and Limousins to 30,000gns and 26,000gns at Dinmore

First to set the heather on fire was the six-year-old Beef Shorthorn cow, Dinmore Zoe Katrina, a former champion winner at the Royal Welsh and reserve female and exhibitor bred champion at the Great Yorkshire. A daughter of Dunsyre Forester, out of the Tugby Lucky Fellow-sired Grafton Zoe, she sold with her March-born heifer calf, Dinmore Zoe Sabrina, for 24,000gns to Mary Cormack, buying for her Rougemont herd.

The same buyer also bought the second record breaker, Dinmore Zoe Rosina, which is a full sister to Zoe Sabrina, being a 17-month-old heifer by Chapelton Lancer, out of the the 24,000gns Zoe Katrina.

The Dinmore Beef Shorthorn herd which was being dispersed also saw Macaroni sell for 12,000gns.

Mr Dawes who was staging his third production sale from the Dinmore Limousin herd, also received 30,000gns for Dinmore Sensation ET, a 6.5-month-old heifer calf bred from a flush from the Wilodge Vantastic daughter, Dinmore Perfection, and sired by Meadowrig Pedro. She is a grand-daughter of the great breeding cow, Trueman Gazia.

Dinmore Starmaker, a 14-month-old ET that also goes back to Gazia, made 26,000gns. She is by Carrickmore Maximus.

Two others going back to Gazia made 18,000gns and 15,000gns. The former, Dinmore Titania, a five-month-old ET calf is by Meadowrig Pedro, with the latter, Dinmore Tia, being a 2.5-month-old ET heifer calf by Requin.

Averages: Beef Shorthorn dispersal – 14 cows/heifers with calves/in calf, £7200; 10 heifers, £4520; 12 frozen embryos, £748.12.

Limousin reduction – 22 cows/heifers with calves/in calf, £4009; 33 heifers, £3842; five bulls, £4347; seven embryo calves, £11,535; three cross-bred heifers, £3097; 24 frozen embryos, £840.
