Judge, Bruce Goldie from Dumfries found his overall sheep champion at this year's Great Yorkshire Show in the form of the Charollais gimmer.

It was one to remember for the Sercombe family of Charles and daughters, Grace and Victoria from Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, when they secured the supreme.

Running 120 Charollais ewes this girl is sired by Foulrice Regs, out of a home-bred ewe by Dalby Rhapsody and is full sister to the 12,500gns breed record.

"The Charollais was the soundest sheep put in front of me today, she was well put together and very difficult to fault. She has a great top line and a well worthy winner in my eyes," said Bruce Goldie.

"Following on with the Clun Forest, this shearling ram is a very upstanding sheep being very loose and well put together," he added.

Reserve honours went to the non-MV accredited champion, the Clun Forest from Anna Pennell, Darlington. This home-bred shearling, Nipa Earl is sired by the private purchase, Pixie Blackjack and out of dam, which stood reserve inter-breed here in 2018 and supreme sheep champion at the Welsh the same year. Now running 60 Clun Forest along with 250 Mules.
