Ram lambs from Charlie Boden's Sportsmans flock from Stockport, Cheshire, led the way at the Northern Counties Suffolk sale at Carlisle, attracting the top two prices at 7000gns and 5000gns.

The two ET lambs bred from a Sportsmans ewe by Strathbogie A Kind O Magic and sired by the 200,000gns Salopian Solid Gold, saw the pen leader and dearest sell in a three-way split to Stewart Lathangie, Pyeston, Glenrothes; Ali Jackson, Annan and James Wallace, Claycrop, Kirkinner, Newton Stewart.

The No 2 lamb made 5000gns to Irish breeders, Messrs Gorman, Dublin.

Next best amongst the males at 3200gns, Welsh breeder, Myfyr Evans, sold a son of the 90,000gns Ardlea Arbennig, to Pamela Lupton, buying for her Kexbeck flock from Greenholme, Ripon, North Yorkshire. His dam, a Lakeview ewe, is by Strathbogie Stradivarius.

Mr Evans' second lamb, by the same sire, but bred from a Lakeview ewe by Limestone Limited Edition, made 2200gns selling to Messrs Garner and Son, Horncastle, Lincolnshire.

Matching that bid, Messrs Riley, Carnforth, bought a lamb from Rory and Pat Machray, Middlemuir, Inverurie. His pedigree features the sire Cairness Glenmorangie onto a home-bred ewe by Lakeview Harbinger.

Females peaked at 1700gns for a gimmer from Stephen Bolland's Wharfe flock, Bolton Abbey, Skipton, purchased by Messrs Thomas, Stone, Staffordshire. She is by Solwaybank Cracker and bred from a home-bred ewe by Rhaeadr Rastafari that sold for 1300gns as a three-crop ewe the Islay flock.

Her pen made, which boasted the same genetics made 1400gns selling to Messrs Cross, Preston.

Another two gimmers made 1400gns with the first from Pamela Lupton, Kexbeck by Rhaeadr Welsh Wizard and out of a Drimmie Drama-sired ewe, knocked down to Messrs Oare, Brynford, Holywell.

Elaine Wilkie, Boreland, Lockerbie, bought the second, from Andrew Hambleton's Dovedale flock from Merkland, Penpont, Thornhill, Dumfriesshire. She is by Forkins Figaro and bred from a Strathbogie A Kind Of Magic-sired ewe that is an ET sister to the 4500gns Dovedale Deezer, sold here in 2019.
