A four-horned ewe lamb that stood reserve female champion at the Royal Welsh Show, secured the overall championship and top price of 2000gns at a Jacob Sheep Society sale at Carlisle.

The January-born entry from Wyn Harries' Hope flock from Wenant, Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire, is by Pike Field Braveheart son, Hope Braveheart and out of Gobiath, a Hope Rocky Boy daughter. She sold to Messrs Cutherbertson, Alyth, Blairgowrie.

Mr Harries also produced the top two males, four-horned ram lambs at 1600gns and 1500gns. The former, Hope Fire Blast, the first prize winner at the Royal Welsh and overall champion, is a January-born son of Hope Flame of Ace and bred from another home-bred ewe by Hope Rocky Boy. He was purchased by fellow Welsh breeders, Messrs Price, Pentrenant, Churchstoke, Montgomery.

Messrs Cuthbertson bought the second at 1500gns, Hope Spitfire, which stood second in his class at the pre-sale show and at the Royal Welsh. Another similarly aged lamb by Flame of Ace, he is out of a home-bred ewe by Overdale Robert Price.

The first prize shearling, Luruha Gordo, sold next at 1400gns for Ewen Macmillan, Lurg, Fintry. This four-horned entry by Harbell Lincoln, is out of a Dunmore ewe by Dunmor Ace. He sold up to Banffshire with Messrs Forsyth, Aberlour.
