APF – the UK’s largest forestry, woodland, arboriculture, fencing, trees, and timber event – has reported record advance ticket sales for its 2022 show.

Around 300 exhibitors and 25,000 visitors are expected to gather on the Ragley Estate, at Alcester, Warwickshire, on September 22-24th for the huge event.

There will be £80 million of working equipment, much of it designed for use on farms, small woodlands, estates, and even individual trees, on display, showing farmers how to maximise the use of trees and timber on their land.

APF 2022 will have exhibitors covering every aspect of woodland and tree management from seed to sawmill. Experts will be on hand to advise on woodland creation and management and help with the latest grant schemes.

There will also be a 'Fencing Village' with most of the UK’s top suppliers and manufacturers demonstrating the latest tools, equipment, machinery, and materials including the latest metal clip fencing recently approved for grant schemes.

Exhibition secretary, Ian Millward, commented: “We are delighted with advance ticket sales for the event. In May we saw sales equalling 25% of our entire total for the 2018 event. Exhibitor bookings are very strong and we have very little demonstration circuit space left.

"I get the feeling that the whole industry is really looking forward to the event after having to cancel in 2020 and with all the new events and features for this year it is going to be a great show.”

APF 2022 is a biannual event, and this will be the 23rd Exhibition. The first ever APF Exhibition was held at Longleat Estate in 1976. It is returning to Ragley Estate after being staged there in 2004, 2006, 2012, 2014, 2016, and 2018.

Ragley features a 2000metre demonstration circuit where machines are shown working in a realistic setting.

The event's seminar programme features leading figures in the industry speaking on topical issues of the day including plant health, pest and diseases, technology, safety and training, marketing, wood fuel, and wood processing. It covers everything that is trees or timber related.

There will also be competitions taking place as part of the show, including:

  • The Husqvarna World 25m Pole Climbing Championships;
  • The Tilhill Forestry and A W Jenkinson European Chainsaw Carving Competition;
  • Horse Logging;
  • The UK Open Tree Climbing competition;
  • The UK Open Fencing Championships;
  • The World ‘Log to leg’ pole lathe turning championships.
