TO commemorate 60 years as president of Central and West Fife Agricultural Society, the committee have gifted a red oak tree to the Earl of Elgin and Kincardine.
The Earl is a great ambassador for their annual show and hosted the event from 1980 – 1997 in the beautiful policy parks around Broomhall House.
The Society is thought to be the oldest agricultural society in Britain, dating from 1760. In 1962 the Central and West Fife Agricultural Society was formed with the incorporation of Leslie and Kinglassie Agricultural Society and the Western District of Fife Agricultural Society where the annual meeting, or show as it is now referred to, was to be held on the first Saturday in June.
This year the annual show will be held on Saturday, June 3 at Bucklyvie Farm, Crossgates by kind permission of the Barr family.
