The first North East of Scotland Aberdeen-Angus Club herds’ competition in recent years saw Hamish and Margaret Sclater’s Deveron enterprise win the supreme.

The club which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2022, saw judge Eustace Burke of the Clontead herd in Cork, Ireland, visit no fewer than 18 herds over four days which included 1400 cattle that were judged into 11 categories.

Mr Burke said “It has been a huge privilege to be asked to judge a herd competition in the heartland of the Aberdeen Angus breed. I visited the area 12 years ago for the club’s Ruby tour and I was thrilled to be invited back to judge. I saw some outstanding cattle over the week and am excited to see how these herds and cattle progress in the next few years”.

Best new entrant herd was Brotherton from Stonehaven.
