Young Farmers flocked to the North Region sheepdog trial staged at Whiteley Farm, Inverurie, with the kind permission of the Craigie family.
The event saw eight competitors take part with 14 dogs for New Deer, Echt, Mearns, Bower, Strathbogie and Udny clubs.
Judge George Simpson of Huntly said: “The competition was a good day for all, the weather was great and a good venue with good sheep.

“The winner had an excellent run and the other competitors put up a good show. It was a great experience for all.”
The overall winner was Lynn Ronaldson of Bower Young Farmers, with her four-year-old Bob, with second place going to Harry Cooper of New Deer, with his 30-month-old Roy.
Lynn added: “Bob was bred in Wales and he’s my main work dog. I’m on my second open season of trialling with him.
“The course on the day was grand, sheep were good around the course a little cheeky at the chute, Bob listened well and handled them well at the chute. Penning is his favourite part of a course – he always seems to enjoy it the most.
“We have never done a chute before but the concept was the same thankfully”

Competitors who just missed out on a placing were Faye Wilkie (Echt) with Mav; Alex Stephen (Mearns) with Bell; Lynn Ronaldson (Bower) with Mazi; David Scott (Strathbogie) with Roxy and Evie Craigie (Udny) with Sam.
North chair, Sally Mair of Kinnermit was most impressed by the day. She said:
“The North Sheepdog Trials saw a fantastic turnout of dogs from across Scotland, with some travelling more than 190 miles to compete.
“Special thanks to the Craigie family for their use of facilities and sheep and the many helpers throughout the day who continue to support YF events throughout the year. Without them, we couldn’t continue to build on these great competitions.”
